A whiskey that is double oaked is aged in 2 barrels before being bottled for resale. The 2nd barrel is sometimes toasted, but more often it is a new charred oak barrel that really imparts its oaky characteristics onto the whiskey. The flavors that the oak barrels provide to the whiskey is typically described as caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, nutmeg, earthy, leather, toast, and/or bready and then any combination there on too. The guys really treated themselves to this tasteoff. Hope you enjoy the episode. They sure did!

Bob Dylan is a talented man. As a musician, artist, and now as a bourbon distiller you might say he has the Midas touch. Todd, Adam, and Joe taste 4 of his offerings and pick the champion. They think you would agree with their findings. As difficult as it is to have to sit and tasteoff some delicious options, they do it to keep you from having to. You could almost label them as public servants.

Todd met Mick 16 years ago at a local cigar bar called The Nice Ash. They had an instant bond based on the similar interests, beliefs, and viewpoints they shared. A few years ago Mick moved to South Carolina so they don't get to visit with each other as often as they used to. Being the big John Wayne and Western fan that he is, Mick picks 4 bottles that share that theme for Joe and Todd to join him in tasting. Some smooth tasty bourbon is had in this episode. Todd recalls a trip to a Kentucky Distillery That he was able to pick up some rare bourbon from and trade some with Mick.

Dan rejoins Josh & Todd to pick a monthly winner. He finds himself very surprised that he has had a hometown flavor bomb sitting in his lap for so many years. He just now realized how delicious it is. It is definitely a diverse grouping of whiskeys. That doesn't detract from the difficult decisions needed to pick the episode winner. All are quality options, but some just need to leave to find a winner.

Dan makes it back after a long hiatus to help Josh and Todd figure out what the best Wisconsin whiskeys are. Between a couple high proofers and a Colombian oak option they decipher the differences and declare a victor. Some talk of the Olympics and also some discussions of what these three were doing at the age of 25. They wonder if you would be in agreeance with their whiskey decision. Hope you enjoy the episode!
